October 16, 2025 — The Norfolk Area Childcare Collaborative (NACC) has entered into a lease
agreement with First Presbyterian Church of Norfolk to open a new childcare center that will
serve up to 71 children. This marks a significant step in addressing the growing demand for
accessible, high-quality childcare for families of all income levels in the Norfolk area.

The new center will be located at 104 S. 10th Street in space leased from First Presbyterian
Church. While the center will be co-located within the church building, it will not be ailiated
with or operated by the church. The facility will operate independently under the direction of the
Norfolk Area Childcare Collaborative, which was formed in 2022 as a business-led initiative to
address the severe shortage of licensed childcare in the area. The NACC’s business partners
are Daycos, Elkhorn Valley Bank, Flood Communications, and Northeast Community College.
The center will be open to families employed by NACC’s business partners as well as members
of the broader community, supporting the Collaborative’s mission to expand childcare options
for working families across the region. Renovations and licensing preparations are currently
underway, with the center expected to open in 2026.
“This agreement represents a tremendous step forward in expanding childcare capacity in our
region,” said Tammy Day, NACC Board President. “We are deeply grateful to First Presbyterian
Church for their collaboration and willingness to make their space available for a project that
will have a lasting impact on local families and employers.”
The lease agreement allows the Norfolk Area Childcare Collaborative to establish a new center
as part of a broader community strategy to improve childcare access, strengthen the local
workforce, and attract and retain young families in the area.
